Manufacturing Process

Regardless of the source, all rough diamonds eventually end up at the cutting centers. Today, the major cutting centers are Israel, Antwerp, Surat, Johannesburg, & New York. Upon reaching its destination the rough is carefully examined, now days with the help of computers, decisions are made on how it should be cut to yield the greatest value. After the stone’s size and shape are determined, taking into consideration the rough’s shape, as well as the quantity and position of its internal inclusions, the stone is marked and usually sawed. The stone then goes through a series of diamond cutters who each have their own specialty. Finally, the diamond is polished and cleaned, all ready for sale. The different processes are as follows:

Rough Assorting

The first and hence very important step is to grade the rough received. The stock received may include various clarity, color and shape possibility stones. Our team of rough graders identifies rough diamonds and grades them according to the best possible rates, shape, color and clarity.


Planning is perhaps one of the most vital phases in diamond production process. This is the step where the size and other criterions including the relative value of the cut stones that the rough is going to produce are confirmed. Planning at Royal Diam is done with the help of state of the art machinery which has become an integral part of any modern diamond manufacturing facility. The blend of the modern infrastructure with the experienced workforce separates us from the rest in achieving the best possible solution during planning stage.


Sawing Diamond is the process in which a single rough stone is converted into multiple stones if possible. Sawing demands specialized knowledge, tools, equipment’s, technology and perfection. These days sawing are done mostly through Laser Sawing technologies like Waterjet, Green Laser and Ir Laser etc.

Rough Shaping

After the Sawing, it is again put for the planning as per the results. Now, it’s time for blocking and shaping. This process gives the shape to the cut rough diamond. Blocking should be ideally done in such a way that the polisher gets an opportunity to give the best result. Blocking is followed by Bruting which gives shape to the diamond originally planned.

Final Polishing

Diamond Polish refers to how smooth the outside surface of a diamond has been polished. The craftsmanship can be achieved through the experience gained over years. This is one area where in spite the modern machinery we have to rely on the art of the person who skillfully achieves the desired grade with the help of the modern equipment off course

Final Assortment

After polishing, the diamond is send to the Polish assorters who with the help of various machineries grades the various aspects of stone like Color, Clarity, Cut, Fluorescence etc. We take special care in standardizing this process with is the base of Royal Grading System
